Pune to see different kind of dahi-handi; Robots to form pyramids
Mumbai, Aug 28 (UNI) Pune will host a different kind of dahi-handi competition, when robots, instead of Govindas, will form the pyramids to break the earthen pot hanging above.
This will be seen during the seventh ABU International Robocon competition to be held in Pune on August 30-31, a release said here today.
The event, to be held at the Maharashtra Institute of Techonology (MIT) campus, will be beamed live on Doordarshan Sports channel.
Speaking about this unique competition this time around, ABU Deputy Secretary Nomunu Minami said the theme of making human pyramids is interesting and not too difficult for foreign teams to understand.
Robotic teams from 17 countries from the Asia-Pacific region will be vying for top honours with the host country being represented by Nirma Institute of Technology and MIT, Pune.
This is the seventh edition of Robocon, an international event for Asia-Pacific students to showcase their skills in robotics. The competition, which began in 2002 in Tokyo, has been instrumental in nurturing and promoting innovativeness among engineers, the release added.
