JK: Indefinite curfew continues, relaxed in phases

Srinagar, Aug 28: Indefinite curfew continued in Srinagar and other major towns of the Kashmir valley for the fifth day today.

However, curfew was relaxed for the first time yesterday in phases for two hours, during which fresh violence left two people dead and 20 wounded in police-CRPF action. People were seen purchasing essentials during the relaxation period in the city and other areas.

Officials said there was no report of any curfew violation from any part of the valley since last evening.

They said curfew will be relaxed in phases again today to enable people to purchase essentials.

Curfew was imposed on August 24 following ''Lal Chowk'' march call given by the Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the present agitation.

However, thousands of people took to the streets and clashed with the security forces in which about 8 people were killed and more than 100 injured on Monday.
