Gujarat not to be cowed down by terrorists: Modi
Anjar, Kutch, Aug 28 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today vowed to effectively counter terrorism and said the state will not be cowed down by terrorists.
Addressing a public meeting here, Modi said terrorists were trying to halt Gujarat's march to progress and prosperity, but the people of the state would respond in an effective manner.
He was speaking after the 'Gujarat Sankalp Jyot Rath', which is travelling across the state in the run up to the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the state in 2010, reached here after visiting 73 towns and cities of the state.
''Terrorism is a proxy war of the new century. Traditional laws are inept to counter terrorism and that's why Gujarat is demanding a Central approval for Gujcoc (Gujarat Control of Organised Crime), which has been duly passed by the state assembly'', Modi said.
He also announced the establishment of a new medical college in Kutch from the next academic year.
