Goverment extends crediting pension facility to joint account

Shimla, Aug.28 (UNI)Himachal Pradesh Government extended facility of crediting pension to joint account here today.

A Spokesman said here that at present the pensioners were being provided the facility of disbursement of pension through authorised banks, who could receive the pension by getting it credited to a saving or current bank account operated individually by them.

He said that the Government has now decided to extend the facility of permitting the credit of pension to a joint account operated by the pensioner with their spouse, in whose favour, an authorisation for family pension exists in the Pension Payment Order.

He said that the joint account of the pensioner with the spouse can be operated either on 'Former or Survivor' or 'Either or Survivor' basis subject to certain conditions laid down by the Government.

The spokesman said that the pensioners, who desired to get their pension credited to a joint account, can submit an application to the branch bank from where they are presently drawing pension, signed by the pensioners spouse to avail the facility.
