MES Builders defer strike till September 30
Jaipur, Aug 27 (UNI) MES Builders Association of India has deferred till September 30, its proposed strike to press for demand of early implementation of Revised Escalation Formula and reimbursement of losses of Rs 350 crore suffered by builder contractors on account of steep rise in prices of steel, cement and other building materials.
Association President Varinder Kumar Garg told reporters here that they had announced to go on indefinite strike from September 1, in protest against non implementation of their demand but since new Engineer-in-Chief will take charge on September 1, the association had decided to postpone strike by a month so that the new officer could take time to pursue the association's case with the Ministry concerned.
The builder contractors since 2002 had incurred losses of Rs 350 crore due to unusual price rise and this amount should be reimbursed by the Defence Ministry, Mr Garg said.
The association also held its national executive meet here today.
About 5,500 builder contractors were working for MES at various locations throughout the country, Mr Garg added.
