Hi-tech weapons for police to deal with naxalism in UP

Jaunpur, Aug 27 (UNI) Sleuths at the police outposts in the naxal-hit Mirzapur, Chandauli and Jaunpur districts in Uttar Pradesh would soon be equipped with weapons and equipment that could destroy explosives.

Inspector General of Police (IG) of Varanasi zone, Praveen Kumar Singh, today said the policemen were being provided such equipments and weapons that could destruct explosive devices.

He said the policemen have been asked to indulge in encounter with the Naxals only under special situation as the latter needed to be dealt with love and concern, the IG noted.

Besides, the youth in the Naxal-infested districts in the state were being provided health, education and other facilties to control the crime, Mr Singh added.
