Curfew relaxed in Kashmir in phased manner, two killed, 20 injured
Srinagar, Aug 27 (UNI) Curfew was relaxed in a phased manner for two hours each in the Kashmir valley today.
Barring violence in which two people were killed and 20 others wounded at Handwara, Soibugh and Rainawari, the relaxation period passed off peacefully.
However, no relaxation was given in the civil lines, particularly in the areas under Maisuma police station, which included Lal Chowk where the Coordination Committee, spearheading the present agitation, was to hold rally on August 24.
Officials said curfew was relaxed in the summer capital for two hours in phases.
People were seen purchasing essential commodities from the roadside vendors as all the shops and business establishments remained closed. However, there was shortage of essentials in the market and people were seen purchasing whatever was available.
Only private vehicles could be seen on the roads.
