AP govt hikes EBC scholarships

Hyderabad, Aug 27 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government today decided that scholarships on par with SC, ST, BC and Minorities would be given to Economically Backward Class (EBC) students of Degree, Post Graduate and Polytechnics whose parental income was not more than Rs one lakh per annum, from this year.

According to an official release here, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said Rs 30 crore was set apart for the scholorships this year.

The students will be selected on the basis of means-cum-merit.Dr Reddy asked the Finance Department to increase budget for such scholarships in the next year's Budget.
