Andaman plans more fish landing centres
Port Blair, Aug 27 (UNI) To promote fishing in Andaman and Nicobar, the Fisheries Department has planned to develop fish landing centres at different places.
Four fish landing centres will soon come up at remote villages-- Durgapur, Mayabunder, Rangat Bay and Yerrata, Director of Fisheries, Dr V Krishnamurthy told media here today.
The construction work is in progress at Durgapur and Mayabunder and it is expected to be completed by June next while the work at Rangat Bay and Yerrata will be taken up soon, Mr Krishnamurthy said.
The construction work is based on a master plan prepared by Central Institute of Coastal Engineering for fishery (CICEF), Bangalore, he added.
One fish landing centre has been thrown open in Junglighat recently, he informed.
