Bihar floods: Prisoners shifted to safe place
Patna, Aug 26: More than 550 inmates of Madhepura jail in the flood affected north Bihar would be shifted to the Saharsa Correctional Home today after the prisoners cells in the former were submerged in flood waters. Official sources quoting IG Prison Sandweep Poundarik as saying that the decision to shift the prisoners to a safer place was taken last night after surging flood waters posed a serious threat to the inmates of Madhepura jail by partially inundating their cells.
Accordingly, all arrangements had been made to ensure safe passage of about 550 odd prisoners to the Saharsa Correctional Home, about 200 km away, under tight security, the sources said adding that the entire process would be completed by this evening.
