AIADMK demo on move to take over fertile land for varsity
Thanjavur,Tamil Nadu, Aug 26 (UNI) Members of the Opposition AIADMK today held a demonstration at Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's native town of Tiruvarur protesting against the State Government's move to take over farm land for establishing Central University.
As directed by Party General Secretary J Jayalalithaa, partymen led by Agriculture Wing Secretary Durai Govindarajan protested the move to take over 700 acre of agriculture land in and around Koradacherry Union in Tiruvarur District for establishing the University.
They said more than 2,000 farmers and farm workers depended on the land for livelihood. Unmindful of the protests by the locals, the authorities were taking over the fertile land, they claimed.
