Srinagar, Aug 25 (UNI) People at several places today defied curfew restrictions and took to the streets in the Kashmir valley, official sources said.

They said hundreds of people, including women and children, took to the streets at Buchwara Dalgate today and demanded immediate arrest of the CRPF personnel, who were responsible for yesterday's unprovoked firing in which one person was killed and his son got injured near their house.

Raising pro-freedom slogans, the local residents defied curfew restrictions, imposed along with other parts of the valley since 0400 hrs yesterday.

They alleged that CRPF patrolling party opened fire on the father and son duo without any provocation.

Father later died and son was battling for his life in the hospital, they said and demanded arrest and filing of a murder case against the CRPF personnel.

However, the demonstrators continued to protest in the interior of the area and avoiding to come on main roads.

A report from South Kashmir said people at Doru and Yuch Bose also violated the curfew restrictions and raised pro-freedom slogans.

Security forces used lathis to disperse them, official sources said.

A UNI report from Baramulla said people at Bandipora, Kreeri and Ajas took to streets, defying curfew orders today. They were demanding that they should be allowed to move to Srinagar.

Reports of curfew violations were also received from several other parts of the city and other major towns of the valley.
