Jawan commits suicide in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 25 (UNI) An army jawan committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance near village Jhiri on the city outskirts, official sources said today.

''Jawan identified as Ashwani Kumar, 24, of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry had gone to his village in Gaddi in Jhiri area to perform the last rites of his father,'' official sources told UNI.

The jawan, however, later consumed poison at his residence but died while being shifted to the hospital, sources said, adding, that the reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
