HP to deal strictly with illegal garbage disposal
Shimla, Aug 25 (UNI) To check illegal disposal of garbage and solid waste, the authorities would implement Himachal Pradesh Non-Biodegradable Act more stringently.
In a press comunique issued here today, director of Department of Environment and Scientific Technologies, Mr Nagin Nada said "dumping of muck, carbon, polythene bags and solid waste is causing irreparable loss to forests and biodiversity of the hilly state. The problem is more serious around Shimla town." The director said that night patrolling to check dumping of muck would be directed and officals of the departments would also make joint inspection at various location in the towns and check the suspected spots of illegal dumping.
He said that the violaters would be penalised under Forest Conservation Act, 1980 and HP Non-biodegradable Garbage Control Act, 1995.
He said that the department had also been directed to tackle plastic waste mangement in the tourist resorts of Rohtang Pass in Kullu district.
