City committee of CPI(M) stages 'Maha Dharna'
Vijayawada, Aug 25 (UNI) As many as 3000 partymen participated in the 'Maha Dharna', organised by the city committee of Communist Party of India CPI(M) in front of the sub-collector office here today on the issues related to the poor.
CPI(M) Secretariate member Y Venkateswara Rao, Committee member C H Babu Rao and other leaders who participated in Dharna for more than four hours, castigated Congress ruled State Government for allegedly being indifferent to the problems of the people like lack of houses, house sites and pattas to the poor people of the city.
The leaders alleged that despite several agitations on the issue, the state government had turned a deaf ear.
They also demanded that Kerosene coupons of two litres be issued immidiately for the poor people having only one gas cylinder.
Mr Venkateswara Rao and Mr Babu Rao later submitted a memorandum to Vijayawada sub-collector Gaurav Uppal.
