2 dead, 40 injured in collision of buses
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 25 (UNI) Two persons were killed on the spot and 40 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling rammed into another stationary bus at Thuraiyur near here today.
Police said the deceased were identified as Narayanan (65) and Arumugam (65) of Ammapatti North village.
All the injured were admitted to Government hospital at Thuraiyur, from where five of them were referred to Government head quarters hospital.
Police said the villagers of Ammapatti North were returning from a pilgrimage to Tirupathi and were on their way home, when the mishap occurred.
The first bus had halted for a brief rest. The driver of the other bus lost control over his vehicle and rammed into the rear side of the first vehicle, police added.
