The top 50 'best beach scenes in movies' revealed

London, Aug 24 : Legendary actor Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr's beach scene in 1954 film 'From Here To Eternity' has topped the list of '50 Best Beach Scenes' in movies.

The pair was seen lying on a beach, clenched in an embrace, oblivious of the waves crashing across them.

The opening scene of grittily determined runners on a beach, training for the 1924 Olympics; its slow-motion sequences, to the accompaniment of the low, synthesised throb of Vangelis's theme music, from 1981 film Chariots of Fire has been declared the second best beach scene by the critics, reports the Telegraph.

The third spot went to the scene in 1993 film 'The Piano' featuring a bonneted, crinolined woman standing beside a piano on a beach.

A scene from 1953 film 'Mr Hulot's Holiday', featuring accident-prone and charming Jacques Tati, who manages to clear the entire seashore of Saint-Marc-sur-Mer in the Loire-Atlantique when his boat breaks in two landed the fourth spot.

The fifth spot went to the beach scene from 1971 film Death in Venice, featuring a homosexual German composer entranced by a beautiful boy he spies on the beach and is sufficiently transfixed by him to extend his stay and fall prey to an encroaching cholera epidemic.
