TN Govt constitutes enquiry committee for eye surgery fiasco

Perambalur, Aug 23 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has constituted an enquiry committee, headed by Perambalur Government Medical College Dean Balasubramanian, to go into the mass eye surgeries at a private hospital here that led to 65 people losing their vision.

Talking to newspersons here, Perambalur District Collector Anil Meshram said the committee today held enquiries with the doctors concerned and collected details of the drugs administered before and after the surgeries.

They also collected medical reports pertaining the 65 people from the hospital.

It may be recalled that the Joseph Eye Hospital here conducted a free eye camp at Kaduvanur village on July 28 and screened 65 people for surgery.

They were operated upon on July 29, following which all of them complained of irritation and severe damage to eye-sight.
