Tata Motors lauches Indica Vista

Mumbai, Aug 23 (UNI) Tata Motors today annouced the much awaited launch of its next generation Indica version, cristened--'Indica Vesta'--and plans to take it into international market in the next six month.

In the small car segment, the new Indica has been priced in seven variant ranges between Rs 3.49 lakh to Rs 4.88 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, depending on the power engines and different fittings, the company said here today.

Speaking at the launch, Tata Motors vice president (passenger car business) Rajiv Dubey said in the last ten year, since the first generation Indica was launched in December 1998, the existing Indica has been sold over nine lakh units and in the last couple of month it was sold over 8,000 units.

The second generation Indica was scheduled to be launched in the last fiscal but as the company was willing to lauch the range only after full self satisfaction, the launch was extened for few months, he said.

In the car manufacturing segement the auto major have 14 various versions, of which seven are to be phased out with in the next one year, according to the official sources.

Tata Motors had recently entered into a 50 50 joint venture with Fiat and has a joint strategic plans for India auto market, Mr Dubey said adding ''Under a strategic manner we will launch our new ranges in the market and the latest range will be launched with in next one and half year.'' In the Indica Vista is having almost a completely new look as well as the interior fittings. The company will launch an ABS, Airbags execution in the domestic market at the time of the car's debut in international markets, wich will be executed in the next six months, Mr Dubey added.
