Punjab to invite Tata Motors to set up Nano car project
Chandigarh, Aug 23 (UNI) The Punjab Government will be inviting Tata Motors to set up its unit in the state for manufaturing the world's cheapest car 'Nano', official sources said here today.
The sources said the Government was approaching the Tata Motors with the promise of all possible facilities required for the manufacture of the small car.
The modalities for setting up of the manufacturing unit would be worked out at a fast pace once the Tata Motors evinced interest in the offer, the sources said.
Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata had stated yesterday that the Nano car project would be pulled out from West Bengal, if the project continued to be dogged by political violence at Singur.
The previous Congress Government in Punjab had also offered special concessions to Tata Motors for locating its automobile unit in the state.
