Manipur: Fine for not providing info under RTI
Imphal, Aug 23: The Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong has been asked to pay Rs 25,000 for failing to provide information under Section 20 of the RTI Act, 2005.
Manipur Chief Information Commissioner R K Angousana Singh said the Deputy Commissioner was directed to furnish the information sought by the complainants, failing which it will be presumed that he is obstructing the process of furnishing information and appropriate penalty, including recommendation of disciplinary action, under Section 20(2) of the RTI Act, 2005, may be contemplated against him.
Two individuals, N K Hubibou and David Kamei, filed a matter, seeking information from the Deputy Commissioner about the Centrally sponsored schemes implemented in Tamenglong district under DRDA, money received under SGSY and names of the beneficiaries.
They also demanded to know the work done under the scheme and the locations and villages covered and the total amount of money allocated under NREGS during the 2005-08.
