Malayalee couple set free , reach home from Saudi Arabia
Kochi, Aug 23 (UNI) A Malayalee couple, arrested and imprisoned in Saudi Arabian Jail, in connection with the death of their Nepali maid, an illegal migrant, was released and reached Kochi International Airport today.
The couple Roy Joseph and his wife Biji reached here by a Saudi Arabian flight SV 778 at 1100 hrs. They were received by their relatives, including their twin children Albert and Kessia at the airport.
They proceeded to Roy's house at Elenji after interacting with the media.
Roy told the media that though they were acquitted in the case about three months ago, his passport was detained and the Embassy Official could not act for their early release.
Roy Joseph of Elanji in Ernakulam dist, an architect in a construction company and his wife Biji of Kizhakkambalam, a nurse at Khalid University Hospital in Riyadh, had employed a Nepali woman Durga Laxmi to look after their twin children. However, she was found murdered on July 7, 2006. The investigating officer recovered a mobile phone and a bunch of keys belonging to Roy.
The couple were sentenced to imprisonment along with their 18-month-old twin children Albert and Kessia. But, later the kids were released following the efforts of Roy's family friends and the were brought to Kerala.
