Govt signs suspension of operation agreement with KNO, UDF
New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) The Centre and the Manipur government have signed a Suspension of Operation agreement with Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United Peoples Front (UPF) for one year.
Tripartite discussions between the Centre and the state government and KNO, which is an umbrella organisation consisting of 11 groups in Manipur, on Suspension of Operations agreement have been under way for some time. Similarly, talks were going on with the UPF, which is an umbrella organisation of eight insurgent groups.
A Tripartite Suspension of Operations agreement which provides, inter alia, for ground rules for operationalisation of this arrangement, effective for a period of one year was signed by representatives of both these organisations here yesterday, a Home Ministry release said here today.
