Dera chief remains absent, next date fixed for Sep 6
Ambala, Aug 23 (UNI) Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim facing the charges of two murders and rape of Dera sadhvies, didn't attend the special CBI court here today.
The Dera chief had sent medical certificate requesting the court for his exemption from personal appearance on health grounds.
The special CBI Judge A.K. Verma though accepted the application for exemption but directed the counsel of the accused that he should be produced on September 6, the next date fixed by him for hearing the case.
However, the CBI Public Prosecutor H P S Verma demanded that non-bailable warrants be issued against the dera chief who, he contended was misusing the bail granted by the High Court and presenting medical certificates repeatedly in a bid to drag the case.
He pointed out that of a total 12 court dates fixed for his personal appearance, he had turned up in the court for only four times.
Meanwhile, the district administration had made elaborate arrangements for the security of the dera chief, in case he visited the city .
