24-hr curfew relaxation in Jammu
Jammu, Aug 23 (UNI) Civil administration today lifted curfew in Jammu and Samba districts as the talks began between the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti and the panel setup by the Governor N N Vohra to resolve the vexed Amarnath land issue.
''Curfew has been relaxed from 0500 hrs to 0500 hrs tomorrow in Jammu district and up to 2000 hrs in Samba,'' an official source said, adding that it was also relaxed in other districts, including Kishtwar and Udhampur.
The 24-hour-long curfew relaxation in Jammu district was given to facilitate people on 'Janamashtmi' festival.
However, curfew remained clamped in bordering Hiranagar town and Poonch district.
Administration had clamped curfew in Hiranagar after protesters torched a truck parked in the police station following the arrest of a youth.
The youth was forcibly released by youths from the police station yesterday, sources said, adding the Army had conducted flag marches in the town to bring situation under control.
Meanwhile, the talks between the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS), a conglomerate of several political and non-political parties, and the four-member panel appointed by the Governor started here.
