Recruitment scam in Railways during Nitish regime,RJD for CBI probe

Patna, Aug 22 (UNI) The RJD today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to order a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities committed in recruitment of 108 people in Group C category in Railways when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was Railway Minister during the NDA regime at the Centre.

National spokesman of the party Shyam Rajak and former Bihar Law Minister Shakeel Ahmad Khan told reporters here that prima facie it appeared that gross irregularities were committed in appointment of 108 people in group C category at the ''instance'' of Mr Kumar.

'' Almost all the candidates appointed in Group C category were from Nalanda and Begusarai districts of Bihar, '' the RJD leaders pointed out.

They alleged that Mr Kumar offered jobs to the relatives of those, who were his booth managers, and got the voting influenced to favour him during the past Lok Sabha elections when he was a candidate.

'' The misdeeds of Mr Kumar have cost the eligible candidates from other districts in Bihar dearly as they were deprived of the opportunity to get jobs in Railways, '' they stated.

The leaders said several of them were from Other Backward Classes(OBCs), Extremely Backward Classes(EBCs) and Minorities.

Similarly, 231 candidates from a particular class were appointed in Group D category during the regime of Mr Kumar as Railway Minister, the RJD leaders recalled and said the matter was exposed by the party recently.
