Eve-teasing leads girl to self-immolation in Chennai

Chennai, Aug 22: A 20-year-old PG student of a private college is battling for life after she allegedly set herself ablaze being unable to bear eve-teasing by a fellow student at Nagercoil in Kanniyakumari district of Tamil Nadu on Friday, Aug 22.

Reports received at the police headquarters here said the girl was a second year M A student of Sivanthi Aditanar College. Her classmate Subhash had been allegedly eve-teasing her for the last four months. Unable to bear the torture, she decided to end her life by taking the step at her residence.

The girl suffered third degree burns and was admitted to the Asaripallam Medical College Hospital where she was battling for life.

Police are on the look out for Subhash.
