BJP-JD (U) to meet PM on jobs for land scandal
New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) A joint delegation of BJP and Janata Dal (United) will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to draw his attention towards the finer aspects of 'jobs for land' scam where the Railway jobs were ''bartered'' away in return for lands for the family members of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.
BJP sources said Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav, BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and some NDA leaders will apprise the PM with documents to back up the allegations of doling out Railway favours in return for lands and other property distribution or details of beneficiaries of railway jobs.
While the Railway Minister has contended that all the transactions the JD (U) and BJP were alleging had been provided to Income Tax authorities and Lok Sabha Secretariat, the BJP and JD (U) have been arguing that such furnishing of information to the authorities would not absolve the perpetrators of the crimes committed.
