Munna Bajrangi gang member shot dead in encounter

Varanasi, Aug 21 (UNI) Special Operation Group (SOG) of Uttar Pradesh police in a joint operation with Sigra police shot dead a Munna Bajrangi gang member, carrying a bounty of Rs 20,000 on his head, in the Lahartara area of the city today.

Motorcycle-borne Durga Agrahari was stopped by police, but the criminal opened fire upon the police party, but became target of a bullet in retaliatory firing by the cops, police said.

He was wanted in 18 criminal cases of murder, loot and snatching.

Two pistols and some live cartridges were seized from the spot.
