WB: GJM ransacks ex-GNLF councillor's house
Silliguri, Aug 21: About 40 GJM activists ransacked the house of Dawa Sherpa, an ex-Councillor of the GNLF, at Sherpa village under Kalimpong police station in Darjeeling district.
Police said here today that the GJM activists destroyed the house last night following which security forces were deployed in the area to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
''Mr Sherpa is safe as he was out of station. His wife, daughter and other family members also escaped unhurt,'' police added.
No arrests were made so far in connection with the incident, police informed.
Meanwhile, a GJM delegation today reached New Delhi to meet External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, GJM vice-president Pradeep Pradhan told UNI.
