UDF not in favour of hartals: Oommen Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 20 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today said the United Democratic Front (UDF) was not in favour of hartals, which often put the public to hardships.

Talking to newspersons here, he said it was for the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) to take a decision in this regard and the UDF was ready for talks to stop hartals.

The UDF was resorting to other modes of agitations with a view to spare the public any such hardship, Mr Chandy claimed.

All political parties should take a decision that no such strikes were organised hereafter, he added.
