Tripura court sends principal, son to JC
Agartala, Aug 20: A local court has sent a principal and his son to twelve-day judicial custody for allegedly abetting suicide of a girl.
According to report, Mishti Das, daughter of Gopal Das, Principal-in-Charge, Amarpur Degree College had committed suicide on August 9 after her marriage proposal was rejected by one Soumyamoy Das.
Soumya and his father Nikhil Das, Principal of Bir Bikram Memorial College here, were arrested following a complaint by the victim's father for allegedly abetting the suicide.
West Tripura Chief Judicial Magistrate(CJM) after hearing the case sent Soumya and his father to 12-day judicial remand while granted bail to his mother Anita Das.
Police said when Mishti insisted for an early marriage, Soumya avoided her and finally refused the proposal on the ground that his father would not agree to their marriage unless her father provide them a flat in a private apartment in the city.
The victims parents came to know the reason for the suicide from her friends and letters she had received from Soumya, on the basis of which an FIR was lodged, police added.
