Parliamentarians pay floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi
New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) Parliamentarians paid rich floral tributes to late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the Parliament House on his 64th birth anniversary here today.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee led the nation in paying floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan, Union Ministers, current and former Members of Parliament and other dignitaries attended the function and offered floral tributes to the late leader.
P D T Achary and Dr V K Agnihotri, Secretaries-General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively also paid floral tributes.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat released a booklet containing profile of Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion.
A portrait of Rajiv Gandhi was unveiled by the then President of India, Dr Shanker Dayal Sharma, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on August 20, 1993.
