Tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at Vir Bhoomi

New Delhi, Aug 20: President Pratibha Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Aug 20 led the nation in paying tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 64th birth anniversary.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, wife of the departed leader and Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra, son-in-law Robert Vadra and two grandchildren paied floral tributes at his samadhi 'Vir Bhoomi'. Cabinet ministers Shivraj Patil, Murli Deora, Sushil Kumar Shinde were among others present on the occasion. A prayer meeting was organised at the samadhi which was attended by large number of Congress workers.

The day is celebrated as 'Sadbhavana Divas' and 'Akshay Urja Divas'.

Several programmes have been arranged for the day.
