Karunanidhi to receive "Periyar Award" on Sept 21
Chennai, Aug 20 (UNI) DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi would be conferred with the ''Periyar Award'' at the Party's conference to be held at Trichy on September 21 to mark the Centenary Celebrations of DMK Founder and late Chief Minister C N Annadurai.
DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan, in a release here today, said the Chief Minister's son and Local Administraiton Minister M K Stalin would receive the ''Kalaignar'' award, named after Mr Karunanidhi.
The Anna award would be presented to Party Treasurer and Electricty Minister Arcot N Veerasamy and the Paavendhar Bharathidasan award to senior DMK leader and PWD Minister Duraimurugan.
The Periyar, Anna and Kalaignar awards were being presented every year by the DMK since their inception in 1985.
