Patna, Aug 19 (UNI) The RJD today alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had appointed 231 people close to him in the railways when he was Railway Minister during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime at the Centre.
Reacting to an allegation of irregularities in the appointments made by Railway minister Lalu Prasad in exchange of land, the RJD released 21-page doccument to substantiate its charges.
RJD's general secretary Shyam Rajak and spokesman Shakeel Ahmad Khan told reporters that 231 people belonging to a particular class in Bihar were appointed in group D in the railways during Kumars regime. Illegal grafts were also accepted for appintment of the people, they alleged.
They said 35 people were appointed in North Eastern Railway during 1998-99, 4 in North East Frontier Railway, 74 in South East Railway and 3 in Western Railway.
