Bindra urged to become ambassador for Renewable Energy
Chandigarh, Aug 19 (UNI) Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar today urged Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra to be the ambassador for the promotion of Renewable Energy in the country.
The Union Minister, who was interacting with mediapersons here today, was asked whether he would like the ace shooter to join the government's campaign for promotion of renewable energy.
The Union Minister said it was unfortunate that he was not able to meet Abhinav Bindra, but he would appreciate if the media people convinced him to be the ministry's ambassador.
He said the government was implementing a scheme to give financial incentive to those youths who would promote solar thermal energy system.
There were 140 manufacturers engaged in the manufacture of solar water heating equipment in the country, he added.
