Bangladeshi police shoot dead Indian national

Coochbehar, Aug 19 (UNI) Bangladeshi police personnel allegedly shot dead an Indian at the Digaltari area of Nadirhat village under Dinhata police station in the district in the wee hours today.

BSF's Coochbehar Range DIG V S Sheikhwar said some people attired in Bangladeshi police uniform entered Indian territory at around 0030 hrs and gunned down Hassan Sheikh at his house, about 25 metres from the border.

Senior BSF and police officials have rushed to the spot and the BSF initiated an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, BSF officials held a meeting with the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and urged their counterparts to penalise those responsible for the killing.

The border force also asked the BDR to ensure that no such incidents recurred, the DIG added.
