Sivaprakasam Stapathi passes away

Srirangam, Aug 17 (UNI) M S Sivaprakasam Stapathi, who designed the 237 feet temple tower(Rajagopuram) of the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple, died at his residence here yesterday after a brief illness.

He was 66 and is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.

A recipient of the Kalaimamani award, Sivaprakasam was a member of the Advisory Committee on Temple Renovation and Refurbishment of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments(HR&CE) Department.

He had designed most of the temple towers in Tamil Nadu and was also founder president of the Tamil Nadu Tirukovil Sirpa Thozhilalargal Sangam.
