1.20 crore families to be covered under Health Insurance: Paswan

Samastipur, Aug 17 (UNI) Union Steel and Fertlisers Minister Ram Vilas Pasawn today said more than 1.20 crore families would be covered under the ''Health Insurance Scheme'' by the end of this year.

Addressing a public meeting at Rosera, Mr Paswan said the Centre would provide 77 per cent of the funds, to be spent under the Health Insurance Scheme while the respective states would bear the rest of the expenditure for the ambitious insurance scheme across the nation.

Lambasting the Nitish Kumar government, he said the people of Bihar were feeling ''cheated'' as the NDA government had failed to fulfill its pre-poll promises, including the development of infrastructure and improving the law and order situation in the state.

''Rampant corruption in the state administration has adversely affected the implementation of Centre-sponsored welfare schemes in Bihar,'' Mr Paswan said, adding that the state government had failed to check the corruption in the execution of these schemes despite several reminders from the Centre.

He alleged that the NDA government in Bihar had failed to check massive blackmarketing of fertilisers, affecting the farmers in the state as they were not getting the fertilisers, despite being sent in abundance to Bihar by the Centre.

''Several closed industries in Bihar could not re-open due to indifferent attitude of the Nitish Kumar government despite best efforts of the Centre,'' Mr Paswan said.
