Three villages in Kolhapur Dist continue to be marooned
Kolhapur, Aug 16 (UNI) Three villages -- Rajapur, Rajapurwadi and Khidrapur -- in Shirol tehsil of the district continue to be marooned despite the abatement of the heavy rains.
For about a week, these villages have been marooned due to heavy rains and water discharge from Koyana, Warna and Radhanagari dams into the Krishna river, sources in the district collectorate said here today.
The Warna, Koyana and Panchaganga rivers continue to be in spate.
The waters of the Krishna river have receded marginally and it was flowing at 62.1 ft as against yesterday's 62.11 ft near Shirol.
The Panchaganga river was flowing at the height of 41.7 ft as against yesterday's 44 ft mark at the Rajaram wair, where the danger level is 43 ft.
About 18,810 cusecs of water was discharged today from the Koyana dam, while 7,000 cusecs was released from Warna, Kalammawadi 2,800 cusecs and 500 cusecs from Radhanagri, the sources added.
