SUCI demands all party meet to diffuse Kasmir situation
Kolkata, Aug 16 (UNI) The controversy centring round the Government decision to transfer forest land to Amarnath Shrine Board which triggered violent situation in Kashmir must be resolved through discussion amongst all political parties.
This was observed by SUCI General Secretary Nihar Mukherjee demanding the Centre must concentrate all its efforts to facilitate a negotiated settlement of this "burning issue." Mr Mukherjee said the present conflagration in Jammu and Kashmir could not be correctly viewed delinking from the unresolved Kashmir problem.
"Until and unless the fear of the Kashmiri people of losing their autonomy as well as identity and being dispossessed of their rights and land is removed once for all, danger of outbreak of such conflagration will always be there,'' he observed.
He also urged the Government to abjure the path of ''political and military suppression'' of Kashmiri people.
