Subash Ghisingh's wife passes away

Siliguri, Aug 16 (UNI) Dhen Kumari Ghisingh, wife of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) chief Subhash Ghisingh, died here this morning after a protracted illness.

She was 69. She is survived by two sons and a daughter.

The former Darjeeling Hill Council (DGHC) chairman's son Mohan Ghisingh said she was suffering from a brain tumour and heart-related ailments and died on way to a nursing home here.

Subash Ghisingh's family has been staying at the Teesta Prakalp guest house here after they were compelled to leave Darjeeling by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) activists.

Meanwhile, Mohan Ghisingh said his family wanted to perform Ms Ghisingh's last rites at Darjeeling and was in talks with the police administration for providing security for the funeral rites.

However, GJM activists had already blocked NH 55 to prevent Mr Ghisingh's family from entering Darjeeling.
