Rs 75 lakh counterfeit notes seized, one held
Kozhikode, Aug 16 (UNI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today seized about Rs 75 lakh fake Indian currency from Karippur International Airport near here and arrested a passenger from the United Arab Emirates in this connection.
DRI sources said the counterfeit notes in Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations were seized from Thrissur native Mohammed Alsaf (25), who arrived in the airport from Ras-al-Khaima in a RAK Airways flight this morning.
The accused would be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further investigations, the sources added.
Many passengers from Ras-al-Khaima had been arrested from the Karippur Airport in the recent past for travelling on forged passports.
