Pondy CM leaves for Delhi
Puducherry, Aug 16 (UNI) With the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) deciding to meet on August 18, Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today left for New Delhi, where he is expected to meet the All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders.
Recently, all his Cabinet colleagues had raised a banner of revolt against the Chief Minister, alleging ''authoritarian attitude,'' and sought the AICC for a change in the leadership in the Union Territory.
Since an AICC decision in this regard was delayed, the ministers began non-cooperation and boycotted Cabinet meetings.
At this juncture, the AICC directed the Pradesh Congress Committee to convene a CLP meeting on August 18.
The meeting would discuss the prevailing political situation and may ask Mr Rangasamy to prove his majority among the Congress members here.
According to sources, Mr Rangasamy would apprise the AICC leaders of his stand and request to postpone the CLP meeting.
