Pak troops again violate ceasefire in Kashmir, soldier killed
Srinagar, Aug 16 (UNI) A soldier was killed today when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and attacked Indian posts in Uri and Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir, hours after Pakistani and Indian Prime Ministers greeted each other on their respective 62nd Independence day.
A police press, issued here this evening, said Pakistani Army fired towards Khamoosh picket near Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector.
It said a sepoy Naresh Kumar was killed in the Pak firing.
This was the second violation by Pak troops during the past 24 hours.
Earlier, a police spokesman said during the proceeding night, Pakistani troops fired mortar shells on forward posts near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector.
However, the shells missed the posts and exploded at a distance without causing any damage.
Earlier, this month, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire twice in Nowgam sector, killing a soldier.
Pakistan and Indian government had announced a ceasefire on the LoC and International border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2003.
