Agartala, Aug 16 (UNI) The ONGC's Tripura asset celebrated its foundation day here with remembrance of the pioneers and achievements of the company and commemorated 52 years of the company's functioning.

A company release issued here today stated that the celebrations began with the unfurling of the ONGC flag by Asset Manager Biplab Guha on August 14, the day of the company's establishment.

Large number of employees paid their homage at the Martyr Memorial at the ONGC Base Office Complex as a mark of respect for the martyrs who laid down their lives for the ONGC in the process of oil and gas exploration.

In 1956, the ONGC made a modest beginning and now it has become a global enterprise, the first-ever Indian company to feature in the Fortune's coveted list of 'World's Most Admired Companies, 2007', the release said.

''The ONGC's task is clearly cut-out, which has emanated directly from the expectations of the nation, to ensure that the country achieves self-reliance in energy,'' the release added.
