Last date to file forms for EPIC extended in AP: Official

Hyderabad, Aug 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer IV Subba Rao today said the last date to submit application forms for inclusion of names in electoral rolls was extended to August 31 from August 15 due to recent heavy rainfall in the State.

Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Rao said the submitted applications would be verified and objections, if any received, till September 15. The electoral rolls would be published by September 30.

Stating mismatch of photographs with names in the electoral rolls would be rectified and published as supplements, he said the electoral officials and district collectors would receive complaints from voters and feedback from political parties on any complaint related to electoral rolls.

The official said the photo identity cards would be distributed after September 30. Village Committees in rural areas and urban residential welfare associations would also have the right to verify the electoral rolls, in case of any doubts.

Mr Rao said the best software would be adopted to prepare electoral rolls without any mistakes.
