Foundation stone for Assam's third engineering college laid

Kokrajhar, Aug 16 (UNI) The foundation stone for Assam's third engineering college was laid in western Assam's Kokrajhar district today by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

The institute, to be set up in the headquarter town of Kokrajhar in the Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD), is the third after the engineering colleges in Guwahati and Jorhat.

The Silchar Engineering College in Barak Valley is under the Centre.

After laying the foundation stone, Mr Gogoi said the college would help in catering to the needs of the technical education of the area. Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary, also present on the occasion, expressed gratitude to the state government for the initiative. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma was also among others present in the function.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister participated in the golden jubilee celebration of the Kokrajhar College.
