Conversion attempt in MP church
Ratlam, MP, Aug 16 (UNI) Three people, including a woman, were arrested for an alleged conversion attempt at a local church and found possessing some religious literature which was seized, police said today.
Some Hindu organisations' workers reached the Railway Colony's Saint Bathlonia Church yesterday after learning that some tribals and people belonging to Scheduled Castes were being converted there.
On observing the workers, those in the church attempted to run away, but as the workers had alerted the police and the latter arrested Satya Rao, his wife Lata and N K Murthy.
Interrogation revealed that conversion was being attempted after tempting people and sermonising them. A case had been registered under the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.
The Rao couple were residing in Mumbai for past one year and claiming to cure the people using black magic.
Murthy hailed from Andhra Pradesh and is allegedly associated with a voluntary organisation.
